One-on-One Treatment with a Physical Therapist Every Visit!

Meet Jack Matuella, PT, DPT

Jack Matuella loves being a physical therapist because it allows him to utilize his talents and passions to assist others with living their best lives!  Jack is a fun, smart, and compassionate guy and we are lucky to have him on the OPTI team!  Learn more about Jack below!

Where were you born?

I was born in Kansas City, MO and moved to Overland Park, KS shortly after.

What was your favorite toy growing up?

Either my giant box of toy dinosaurs, or this big electronic ESPN Sportscenter All-in-one Sports System that let you play football, basketball, soccer, hockey, and golf!

What did you want to be when you grew up?

MLB baseball player!

Why did you decide on physical therapy?

I love establishing connections with people and helping guide them to reach their goals. Seeing someone progress physically and psychologically is so rewarding. My love of the human body/anatomy/physiology + sports + fitness + social connections is a PERFECT match for physical therapy. I love helping people feel stronger and feel better.  (And yes, of course I was exposed to it through my various sporting injuries as I was younger).

If you could eat one meal (or food item) every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Natural peanut butter and oven-roasted sweet potatoes…or pizza!

Favorite sports teams?

College: Kansas Jayhawks, Creighton Bluejays, Nebraska Cornhuskers

Pro: Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Guardians, Portland Trailblazers

If you could meet any famous person, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

Jesus Christ, of course, because he is the GOAT of GOATS.

I actually met Francisco Lindor in person when he was with the Cleveland Indians, but then he went to the Mets so that ship has sailed!

Another person would be Kobe Bryant as he was such an amazing player with an amazing work ethic. He has influenced so many people and meeting him would have been so cool.

What was the first movie you saw in a theater?

Tarzan

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

You never know what someone else is going through, so treat them the way you would want to be treated.

Favorite quote?

“It ain’t about how hard you can hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.”

-Rocky Balboa
