Happy KNEE Year! Let’s make 2017 a great year for your knees! One of the best ways to decrease the risk for overuse injuries is by maintaining good joint mobility. Check out the four stretches below that you can try on a daily basis to assist with good knee health.
Standing Quadriceps Stretch
Grab your foot and bend your knee, making sure to keep your knee under your hip. Hold 10 seconds. Repeat 3 times on each leg. Do this 1x/day.
Standing Hamstring Stretch/Knee Extension
Lean forward with your knee extended straight until light stretch is felt in back of leg. Hold 10 seconds. Repeat 3 times on each leg. Do this 1x/day.
Standing Calf Stretch
With hands placed on wall or counter top, bend one knee and straighten the other, attempting to keep your heel down while feeling a light stretch in your calf area. Hold 10 seconds. Repeat 3 times on each leg. Do this 1x/day.
Seated Hip External Rotation Stretch
While sitting in a chair, cross one leg over the other and hold 10 seconds. Repeat 3 repetitions on each leg. Do 1x/day.
