One-on-One Treatment with a Physical Therapist Every Visit!

Why OPTI Feels Different—Straight from the Owners

💬 Get to Know Us: Behind the Scenes at OPTI

We sat down with OPTI co-owners, Katie and Brent Cordery, to get their take on what makes Omaha Physical Therapy Institute such a unique place. From clinic culture to patient care, they shared their thoughts on the values, energy, and everyday moments that make OPTI feel like more than just a physical therapy clinic. It feels like a community.

How would you describe the clinic in 3 words?
Fun. Energetic. Supportive.

What’s something new patients usually say after their first visit?
They often say they feel grateful and OPTImistic about their recovery…and we love hearing that!

What kind of music is usually playing in the background?
It depends on who’s in charge of the playlist. You might hear country, 60s–90s hits, or even a little rap. It keeps the energy up and the vibe positive.

What makes the clinic feel like a community, not just a workplace?
The people. Our team is genuinely passionate about helping others and supporting each other. It’s a team-first environment where everyone steps in to make each day better for patients and coworkers alike.

How do you celebrate milestones, whether for patients or staff?
We keep it special and personal. For staff, we celebrate birthdays and anniversaries with lunch and small gatherings. For patients, graduation sometimes comes with a cap, gown, and even a slow clap to fast clap to mark their hard work and success.

What makes this clinic different from others?
We prioritize quality care. Every patient sees a licensed PT for their entire visit. No double or triple bookings. We focus on education, independence, and creating a positive, welcoming atmosphere where people feel truly supported.

Is there a daily tradition, inside joke, or routine everyone looks forward to?
The “monster band competition” always brings some fun and friendly competition to the day for both staff and patients.

What kind of energy do you hope people feel when they walk in?
We want everyone to feel welcomed, cared for, and supported. We aim to create a space that’s both professional and uplifting.

What’s your team’s “secret sauce” for making therapy fun and effective?
We take our work seriously, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously. Building real relationships, celebrating progress, and finding joy in movement all play a big part.

What’s one word patients might use to describe their experience here?
Fun. We hear that one a lot, and it means a lot because enjoying the process makes recovery even more effective.

What does “a good day at the clinic” look like?
Lots of positive interaction, steady movement in the gym, and patients making progress big or small.

How do you keep things light and positive even on hard days?
Perspective matters. We know that rehab can be challenging, but we also know that every step forward counts. Encouragement, teamwork, and shared goals keep us grounded.

What are the top 3 most-heard phrases in the clinic?
🗣️ “Movement is medicine.”
🗣️ “You’re doing great!”
🗣️ “If you don’t use it, you lose it.”

What’s something people are surprised to learn about your clinic or team?
That we’ve been around for 18 years and started from scratch! We’re proud of our history and grateful for the community that supports us.

What are your favorite ways to connect with patients beyond just treatment?
We love learning about our patients…their work, hobbies, families, and goals. Everyone’s story is different, and those personal connections are what make our work so meaningful.

It’s clear that Katie and Brent have built more than just a clinic. They’ve created a place where people feel supported, challenged, and truly cared for. Their passion for quality care and strong relationships is at the heart of everything OPTI does, and it’s what continues to set this clinic apart.
