Vicki’s Comeback from a Total Knee Replacement

I am currently retired. I spent 20 years in banking, and also was the Executive Director of a non-profit organization in North Omaha, and retired in 2013.

I love to read, walk, golf, travel and most of all spend time with my family and friends.

vicki-1I was diagnosed with Osteoarthritis in 2009 which can lead to the deterioration of knee joints and as a result needed to have both of my knees replaced, no cartilage: either knee.

My daughter has been an RN for 25 years and she knew of OPTI. Both of her daughters, my granddaughters, had been treated at OPTI and she loved the environment, professionalism, knowledge and caring therapy provided.  Once I started at OPTI following my first knee replacement, I totally agreed with her.

I have never had PT anywhere else. I know others who have and the PT technique was quite different. I had a relative who also had knee replacement surgery about the same time as I did and she really suffered through her 1.5 hour tri-weekly therapy.  My therapy at OPTI was work, and it should be; but it was tender and effective therapy.  I never felt that I was pushed beyond what I could tolerate, just the opposite, the therapy was gentle and effective.

vicki-2Most importantly, I appreciated the kind and caring environment.  Once you start having therapy sessions at OPTI, you feel like family. The therapy was effective and I consistently improved my range of motion while experiencing an enjoyable environment.

I would definitely recommend OPTI, and I have.  In fact, I am having my other knee replaced and will head back to OPTI for physical therapy on that knee.  This may sound weird, but I can’t wait to get back there and start my rehab.

vicki-3I want to return to taking long walks, resume golfing, and simply just get around my home pain free.  I know I can accomplish all of those goals by simply doing my physical therapy at OPTI and following their plan for me.  They are always available to answer any questions you might have.

Having knee replacement surgery, especially having two within 2 months is tough, but OPTI gives me something to look forward to.  I know they will be there to help me reach all of my goals and return to an active life.   Love them all!
