During this COVID-19 pandemic, Omaha Physical Therapy Institute is implementing both telehealth and e-visits in order to make sure you stay connected to your physical therapist and/or have an opportunity to be assessed without having to leave your home! Most health insurances are now covering these services! All you need is a telephone, computer, or iPad! Your physical therapist will inform you of any other equipment you might want to have on hand.
Telehealth for physical therapy is simply a way to provide physical therapy assessment and treatment through videoconferencing between the physical therapist and the patient. It is a great way to stay connected for those who are unable to leave their home or for long-distance communication. Your physical therapist will talk you through how to get connected this way. It’s really a lot easier than you think! It’s simply a matter of clicking on a link sent to you by your physical therapist! Full treatment sessions can occur and home exercises can be prescribed with live coaching and input from your physical therapist! Amazing! AND, you do not need to be a current patient to receive this service. New patients are welcome to enjoy this new tool as well!
E-visits:
E-visits apply to Medicare Part B only at this time and is only for current patients. E-visits allow you to talk to your physical therapist through an online portal, via telephone, or email and Medicare will reimburse part or all of these visits currently depending on if your deductible is met. If you don’t want to get behind on your rehabilitation and you want to stay active and healthy while at home, we would definitely suggest taking advantage of this service right now!
