Back on Track: Elyse’s Comeback Story
Elyse has the ultimate comeback story. She had to try to navigate through two “jour-KNEES” after tearing her ACL two different times, one in each knee! We got to know Elyse very well during her ACL rehabilitation and we were amazed by her quiet determination and commitment to her rehab journey.
What was your injury? How did you injure yourself?
I tore my ACL twice, once on my left and once on my right knee. Both times I tore my ACL, I was playing soccer.
What was the most challenging aspect to your recovery?
The hardest part of my recovery was keeping a positive mindset throughout my whole recovery process.
What did you learn from your experience being injured?
I learned to not give up, even when things were hard. I also learned to be grateful for what I can do.
What did you enjoy most about PT at OPTI?
I enjoyed the people at OPTI. Everyone was always very friendly!
What advice would you give someone that is recovering from an injury?
I would encourage them to be consistent with your exercises and to work hard every day.
What have you accomplished since coming back from your injury?
I was able to run track this past spring. I was also able to just get back into doing outdoor activities, which I missed.
