Athletes In Motion (A.I.M.) Program

Injury and surgery can be devastating for an athlete…believe us, we know as athletes ourselves! Injury is both physical and mental and as an athlete, there is always concern that you will not be able to ever play at the level you were at before your injury. At OPTI, injured athletes go through our Athletes In Motion (A.I.M.) program with sport-specific skill integration from your first day of rehab to your last!  We make an effort to get you back to where you want to be!

The A.I.M. program is designed to allow for a confident and safe transition back to sports for athletes of all ages and skill levels. Sport-specific skills are implemented into a physical therapy program, resulting in improved motivation and confidence to return to competition.  Integrating these skills into an athlete’s rehab assists with maintenance of an athlete’s skill level while being sidelined from their sport. The physical therapists at OPTI will provide direct, one-on-one treatment with the injured athlete, individualizing rehab programs to meet the demands of the sport to which the athlete will be returning. The goal is to improve strength, agility, power, endurance, coordination, and speed to allow for a safe, confident, and successful return to activities like sprinting, jumping, landing, and cutting.

Athletes are seen at our main clinic along with our Athlete’s In Motion (A.I.M.) clinic which allows for access to field turf.  If an athlete’s sport does not involve a turf surface, other sports arenas or locations are utilized for sport-specific rehab including basketball, volleyball, and tennis courts, grass fields, tracks, swimming pools, and ice rinks to provide proper exposure before transitioning back into a sport.

A.I.M. Clinic  (14706 Giles Rd, Omaha, NE 68138)

OPTI’s A.I.M. clinic is located inside of the Omaha Sports Complex on 147th and Giles which allows athletes access to nearly 70,000 square feet of field turf with goals, nets, batting cages and an abundance of space for kicking, throwing, hitting, punting, and general multi-directional loading and unloading specific to sport!  It’s important for athletes to be exposed to sport-specific surfaces or arenas (such as field turf, grass, ice rinks, swimming pools, and court surfaces) prior to returning to practices and games to reduce the risk of re-injury upon return as well as improve confidence levels!

DID YOU KNOW…

According to a systematic review of literature involving ACL Reconstruction Rehabilitation programs performed in the British Journal of Sports Medicine in 2011, only 44% of athletes who had undergone an ACLR returned to a competitive sport after their rehabilitation.

At OPTI over the past 9 years, 95% of our patients who have rehabilitated a reconstructed ACL have returned to a competitive sport, including several professional athletes, Division I athletes, and high school athletes who went on to earn collegiate athletic scholarships.
